Overview

The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) is seeking a Networking Engineer to serve as the primary support for the distributed Cuyahoga DD network infrastructure, including datacenter, wireless, switched ethernet, and network security measures. The nature of work will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Manage and monitor the Cuyahoga DD WAN/LAN network infrastructure to ensure optimal functioning and communication among client devices, printers, servers, Internet, VPN, Voice over IP and telecommunications applications. 
  • Monitor, analyze, evaluate and troubleshoot hardware, software and other network related problems.
  • Install, maintain, and monitor computer network hardware and software.
  • Design, recommend, and implement enterprise security solutions
  • Plan, implement and maintain server and PC infrastructure both local and remote.
  • Conduct software installations, system upgrades, patches and general troubleshooting.
  • Work with Active Directory services as directed.
  • Troubleshoot Microsoft Exchange/Exchange Online and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Virtualize applications and provide redundancy.
  • Provide documentation of configurations, maintenance plans, project updates, change management, network design and security.
  • Develop, implement, and test response plans for disaster recovery.
  • Develop strategic configuration and capacity planning to accommodate digital scanning, VOIP, VLANs, Ethernet, Wireless Network.
  • Work with Datacenter Operations Manager and vendors for purchase and maintenance of approved equipment.
  • Document, escalate and engage vendors for service resolution.
  • Contribute to and research solutions during annual budgeting process.
  • Travel to other Cuyahoga DD sites to provide service, repair and general inspection of network hardware as needed.

HYBRID/REMOTE WORK SCHEDULE:  Three (3) days in the office and two (2) days at home.

 

ESSENTIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • In depth knowledge including, but not limited to Active Directory, Azure, DNS, Exchange Online, SQL Server, Microsoft 365 and virtualization techniques. 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft products including SQL, Windows Server, cloud technologies  and current workstation OS versions.
  • Knowledge of the Cuyahoga DD’s computer resources including hardware, network, software and peripheral products.
  • Knowledge and initiative to make decisions about computer and related needs with minimal assistance.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate and implement projects involving complex analysis and modifications to systems.
  • Ability to monitor and improve systems and network performance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to function effectively and professionally with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to learn and keep current with new technologies that are relevant to the tasks performed in this position through classes, seminars, reading and other avenues.

SALARY:  The salary listed in the header ($75,000.00) is the starting salary for this position, and there is a complete compensation and benefits package that will be included. Some of those benefits include the following:

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science or other related degree, or in lieu of a degree, 5 years of equivalent work experience supporting network infrastructure.
  • Experience working in a Microsoft Windows environment/Cloud technologies.
  • Minimum Cisco certification CCNA.
  • Experience with VMware technology.
  • Experience with enterprise level server monitoring, diagnostics and repair.
  • Proven experience with LAN/WAN, VLAN, VoIP systems.
  • Experience with network capacity planning, network security principles and general network management best practice, preferred.
  • Valid State of Ohio driver's license and an excellent driving record.
