Overview

The Cuyahoga County Board of Developmental Disabilities (Cuyahoga DD) is seeking a Housing Coordinator to identify and collaborate with community partners to offer a variety of housing opportunities and resources in Cuyahoga County.  This position will also routinely provide training and technical assistance to Support Administrators (SAs) regarding housing options and resources, and direct and oversee program services for TryTech apartments.  The nature of work will include, but is not limited to the following:

  • Coordinate and oversee all activities and services related to the TryTech program.  Includes recruiting participants, scheduling tours and admissions, planning with teams, maintaining adaptative and assistive technology equipment, budgeting, and day- to-day apartment maintenance. Assist individuals and teams to determine which assistive technology and equipment to incorporate into the person’s permanent home.  Maintain and analyze program data to support program outcomes.     
  • Responsible for linkage to subsidized housing including Ohio 811. Assist individuals/teams with Ohio 811 process including applications, scheduling tours, appeals, tracking 811 units and availability, communicating program updates to SAs, updating Cuyahoga DD processes/procedures as needed, and act as a liaison to DODD and OHFA regarding 811 related issues.
  • Assist individuals and SAs with understanding the options for community housing, housing resources including linkage regarding fair housing support and requests for reasonable accommodations and modifications. Collaborate with in-house attorney as needed.
  • Provide on-going training and technical support to SA and other Cuyahoga DD staff.       Routinely provide housing related training and support to SAs.  Routinely attend SA meetings.  Provide technical support as needed as housing challenges arise.
  • Primary Liaison with contracted housing corporation, North Coast Community Homes (NCCH), related to individual issues, vacancies, general questions/concerns.    Communicates and follows up with SA as needed. 
  • Collaborate with community entities to ensure additional housing opportunities for individuals served by Cuyahoga DD. Act as a community outreach contact, working closely with housing corps (NCCH, Westco and other private providers), developers of low-cost rentals, CMHA, EDEN, and Cleveland area Fair Housing entities. 
  • Work with CCRS and SA leadership to develop housing options as needed.
  • Administration and reporting. Maintain accurate records of vacancies.  Prepare reports on housing outcomes, challenges, and success stories.
  • Participate in internal and external committees and presentations as a housing resource and subject matter expert as assigned or needed. 
  • Document all work via MAC billing system as determined.
  • Perform any and all other job-related duties as assigned.

UNUSUAL WORKING CONDITIONS: Frequent in county travel and occasional out of county travel, and may need to provide training, support to teams or attend meetings on occasional evenings/weekends. Flexible working hours may be required.

 

** STARTING SALARY:  The salary range listed in the header is the full range for all employees in Pay Schedule D. It is important to understand that the range listed is NOT the range for a new hire.  Actual new hire starting salaries are determined based on many factors including the breadth and depth of the knowledge, skills, education and experiences brought by the candidate.  It is Cuyahoga DD’s intent to pay each employee a salary that is reasonable and competitive based on the market rate for the position, while also considering not only internal equity but also the budgetary constraints.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a B.A Degree in social work, human services, special education or related field.
  • Previous experience coordinating services in housing programs, case management, or community services.
  • Knowledge of affordable housing regulations, accessibility, or community services.
  • Three years of experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain the DODD SSA Certification, which is required for the position (certification obtained following hire).
  • Valid state of Ohio driver’s license and continued maintenance of excellent driving record.
